Hello All,

There has been some confusion in regards to injuries and the return to play policies. Parents please familiarize yourself with a couple steps. If your child gets injured your team safety will provide you with an injury report form when you leave the arena. A doctor must fill this out, please return this form to your safety to file with Hockey Canada. Your child needs a return to play note from a doctor before returning to the ice.

Please keep in mind that Sooke Minor Hockey doesn’t make the policies however we must familiarize ourselves with it and we must follow it.
BC Hockey Risk Management and Injury Claims

A few important reminders which are written on the injury report itself is;
– Injury reports must be completed and sent in within 90 days of injury (team safety responsibility) If not in within the 90 day deadline, Hockey Canada insurance will not cover the member for that injury throughout the member’s hockey career
– Parents must take form to Physician to have filled in
– If a child is removed from the ice (game/Practice) for an injury, they shall have a note from their Physician stating they are cleared to return to the ice.

Welcome Sooke Minor Hockey Families,

I hope you have all had an excellent summer and enjoyed some time away from the rink.

Sooke Minor Hockey executive members have been working very hard to have a successful start up to the season. A tremendous amount of work has gone on behind the scenes to start the season. Please thank the executive members that you see and think twice before you complain.

Thank you for your patience as we sort through the glitches on the new web site. This should be more user friendly and a better communication tool for our managers and coaches and executive members. By signing up to your children’s team(s), you will begin to receive only the relevant emails, so please respond to the invitation you were sent. If you have not received any emails please email your child’s appropriate coordinator with your name, players name and division and your email to be added. Coordinator’s emails can be found on the website under association info and then executive contacts.

Tonight Sept 5th the midget rep and bantam rep players registered to try-out should all be attending the on ice hitting clinic from 5-6pm. Please see the calendar tab for the schedule.

We are excited to have new jerseys in bantam and midget this season, this will have all our players in the same style of jersey throughout the association!

Please have patience with the coaches, managers, coordinators, and executive members as we get through the first couple weeks and player movement.

If your child is new to Vancouver Island Hockey, this a reminder that one parent of every player in VIAHA must have completed a parent respect in sport online course by Oct 31/2017 otherwise your child will be unable to step onto the ice after that date. The clinic can be accessed via
